What this site collects
Almost nothing, and nothing you type. There is no account to make, no form to fill in and no search box. The whole site is a set of pages that were built in advance, so there is no server here taking anything down.
What we collect ourselves
Nothing. We set no cookies of our own, store nothing in your browser, and have no way to contact you because we never ask for anything to contact you with.
Picking two states puts them in the address bar — ?from=texas — so the page can be shared or reloaded. That happens in your browser and is
never sent anywhere.
What Google Analytics collects
We use Google Analytics 4 to see which pages people actually read, so we know which states and plants to work on next. It sets a cookie and an identifier in your browser so a returning visit is not counted twice, and it records roughly what you would expect:
- · Which pages you opened, in what order, and for how long
- · Which site or search sent you here, if any
- · Your browser, device type and language
- · A rough location worked out from your IP address. Google does not store the address itself
We never send Google anything that identifies you personally, because we never have anything that identifies you personally. What we look at is counts — how many people read the Hawaii page, not who did.
Google explains what it does with this at how Google uses data from sites that use its services.
Turning it off
Google publishes a browser add-on that opts you out of Analytics on every site, not just this one. Any content blocker or a browser set to reject third-party cookies will also do it, and nothing on this site breaks if you do — every answer here is in the page before any script runs.
What we do not do
- · No advertising, and no ad networks
- · Nothing is sold or passed on to anyone
- · No tracking pixels, no embedded video, no comment system, no social widgets
- · No email list, because there is no way to join one
The site loads a font from Google Fonts and, on some pages, links out to state agency websites. Following a link takes you to somewhere with its own rules, which are not ours.
